MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 sweep of Keystone in United East Conference play on Wednesday night, October 15 at the Capital Union Building.
Tesia Oliva led the Lions with 10 kills, while
Hannah DeGregory and
Tobi West worked together in the setter position and provided 32 total assists.
Nicole Dos Santos provided 14 digs and a pair of service aces.
Penn State Harrisburg (13-5, 4-1 United East) opened the first set with a strong start, quickly establishing a 3-0 lead with
Brianna Ondishin Ribon and
Kate Bukowski contributing kills and a service ace. The home team maintained momentum, extending their lead to 10-2, as
Emily Miller was unstoppable in the rally with three kills and
Camryn Wettstone added a pair of kills of her own. The Lions ended the set with a commanding 25-8 victory, thanks in part to two service aces from DeGregory that put an exclamation point on the opening frame.
Keystone (1-19, 0-6 United East) didn't make it easy for Penn State Harrisburg in the second set, forcing nine ties early to bring the score to 10-10. However, a 6-0 run in the back-half of the frame was all the Lions needed to eventually secure the second-set victory. A pair of kills by Oliva and a kill each from DeGregory and West fueled the key run.
The home team wasted no time in the final set when Charolette Nguyen started off with two kills, helping Penn State Harrisburg get out to a quick 5-0 advantage. The Lions maintained their edge with strong defensive play, including blocks by Nguyen and Ondishin Ribon and ultimately Keystone's attempts to rally were hindered by several attack errors, keeping the home team's lead intact. A final kill by Dos Santos, assisted by Mollie Shade, sealed the set at 25-13, ensuring a decisive home sweep.
