Women's Soccer Picks Up Fourth Straight Shutout Victory

LANGHORNE, Pa. – After a thrilling win over No. 4 Messiah the night prior, Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team returned to conference play and kept rolling with a 4-0 shutout victory over United East foe Cairn on Wednesday night, Oct. 15.

Diana Pon and Katelyn Monette each recorded three total points thanks to a goal and an assist, while Ava Myers and Ava Fox added one goal apiece. The defense was also stout and did not allow a single shot on the night en route to recording the team's ninth shutout of the season.

For the second straight night, Pon got the scoring started by converting a penalty kick. Her marker in the 10th minute gave the Lions (10-5-2, 6-0-0 United East) a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

Penn State Harrisburg added to its lead early in the second half when Myers finished off a pretty cross from Pon with one touch into the right side of the net to make it 2-0 in the 50th minute. Fox pushed the advantage to three when she buried a goal in the 66th minute off a find from Monette before the latter capped off the game's scoring with a strike from left of goal with 12:04 to play.
