ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's field hockey team remained unbeaten in conference play thanks to a 4-0 road victory over United East foe Cedar Crest on Saturday morning, Oct. 11.
Ami Mattingly surpassed the 20-goal mark for the season thanks to a pair of scores and an assist, while
Sadie Cook and
Victoria Castano Colman each found the back of the cage. The defensive unit was dominant and did not allow Cedar Crest (2-10, 0-2 United East) to get off a single shot.
After a scoreless opening quarter, the Lions (10-1, 2-0 United East) struck early in the second when Cook finished off a feed from Mattingly in the 17th minute, giving the visitors a lead they would not relinquish.
Mattingly made her mark on the contest late in the third quarter when she scored back-to-back goals just 45 seconds apart, increasing Penn State Harrisburg's advantage to three heading into the final period. Castano Colman eventually put the finishing touches on a dominant performance with a marker in the game's final minute.
