MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis team opened its 2025-26 campaign with a 7-0 setback to Penn State Altoona in non-conference action at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Friday afternoon, Oct. 10.
Penn State Altoona (12-1) took an early lead thanks to sweeping through doubles play. The visitors' top team of Caitlin Blessel and Rachel Stricek bested Penn State Harrisburg's No. 1 duo of Edison Curtis and Ava Shepps 6-0, while the home team's No. 3 pairing of Karly Anderson and Aubrey Gard fell by the same margin. Kiersten Strohecker and Megan Strohecker dropped a 6-2 decision to Penn State Altoona's Lexi Colaianni and Sienna Fell in the second doubles contest.
Curtis battled in singles action but ultimately fell 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 in three sets to Blessel in the top matchup. Shepps was bested by Struck 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 2 contest and K. Strohecker showed good fight in a 7-6, 6-2 setback to Colaianni in the third outing. Anderson went down 6-0, 6-1 to Fell in the No. 4 match, M. Strohecker was topped 6-1, 6-4 by Abigail Morgan in the fifth contest and Rosalia Mannino fell to Daniel Fulton 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 6 outing.
Penn State Harrisburg (0-1) will take part in the Goucher Invitational on Saturday morning before closing out the fall at Lebanon Valley on Wednesday afternoon.
