BALTIMORE, MD – The women's tennis team competed at the Goucher Invitational on Saturday, October 11. In total there were seven draws and over 40 players that competed in the singles and doubles brackets from five different teams, including Goucher, Gettysburg, Stevenson, and Dickinson. The Blue and White competed well overall on the afternoon.
DOUBLES FLIGHT A
Curtis and Shepps started off the day with hard fought 6-7(3) loss to Goucher before falling to Stevenson's number one pairing 3-6.
DOUBLES FLIGHT B
The Strohecker's teamed up for their doubles draw and dropped both of their matches to Gettysburg and Stevenson 2-6, and 0-6 respectively.
DOUBLES FLIGHT C
Anderson/Gard competed in their opening matchup and dropped a 2-6 decision to the duo from Stevenson.
SINGLES FLIGHT A
Edison Curtis fell in her first match to Gettysburg 0-8 before taking down Stevenson's Stepleman 8-7(3).
SINGLES FLIGHT B
Ava Shepps dropped her match to Gettysburg 0-8, before earning a convincing 8-2 win against Mackenzie Dicke from Stevenson.
SINGLES FLIGHT C
Karly Anderson fell to both of her opponents from Dickinson and Gettysburg by scores of 1-8.
SINGLES FLIGHT D
Megan Strohecker earned an 8-6 win against Goucher in her first round before falling to Gettysburg 0-8 in the semifinals of her singles flight.
Kiersten Strohecker also competed in this flight, falling to Gettysburg College 1-8. Strohecker then rallied to win a close 8-6 battle with Stevenson's Njemanze before falling in the consolation final to Stevenson's Clayton.
SINGLES FLIGHT E
Rosalia Mannino and
Aubrey Gard competed in Flight E, where Mannino dropped her opening match 2-8 to Dickinson College before falling to Stevenson 0-8. Gard lost by a score of 2-8 to Dickinson College to open up the afternoon and dropped her matchup against Stevenson 2-8 to round out the afternoon.
