MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's basketball team secured a United East Conference victory over Notre Dame (Md.) 65-52 at the Capital Union Building on Wednesday night, Jan. 8.

Giahny Correa led the team with 14 points and five assists, while Jordan Carpenter posted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Norma Thornhill recorded 13 points of her own and Mikayla Coleman added seven.

Penn State Harrisburg (10-4, 4-2 UEC) jumped out to a 14-9 lead in the opening quarter, before Notre Dame of Maryland (4-9, 3-3 UEC) clawed back and tied the game up 19-19 with around four minutes to go before halftime. Thornhill and Notre Dame's Elena Rodriguez then traded 3-pointers ahead of the Lions' timely 8-0 run with just 30 seconds left in the quarter.

The home team slowly started to extend the advantage throughout the last two quarters, as the Lions saw their largest lead with 9:41 to go in the game when they were up by 17. The Gators continued to put the pressure on Penn State Harrisburg, cutting the deficit to 52-59 with a minute to go. However, the visitors' effort proved too late, and the Lions sealed the victory with three straight layups to keep Notre Dame (Md.)  at bay.
