Coleman Pushes Women's Basketball Past Bryn Athyn

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - Behind a career-high 26 points from Mikayla Coleman, Penn State Harrisburg's women's basketball team secured another United East Conference victory over Bryn Athyn 68-59.

Coleman and Jordan Carpenter were both just shy of a double-double, with the rookie recording 26 points and nine rebounds and Carpenter tallying a dozen points and nine boards. Ali Lister also reached double-digits with 10 points of her own, to go along with a team-high six assists and four rebounds.

Penn State Harrisburg (11-4, 5-2 United East) earned a 16-13 lead after the first quarter before Bryn Athyn (13-3, 6-1 United East) found momentum and scored seven straight buckets to turn the tides in their favor. However, the Lions wasted no time and went on a 10-0 run of their own over the course of three minutes.

With 46 seconds left in the first half, the contest was deadlocked at 30 apiece but the duo of Giahny Correa and Coleman hit timely 3-pointers to give the visitors a five-point cushion going into halftime.

The third quarter was a high-scoring affair for the Lions, as Carpenter and Coleman accounted for 19 of the total 22 points netted by Penn State Harrisburg compared to the 16 overall points scored by the Bryn Athyn unit. The visitors saw their largest lead of the night with 9:31 left on the clock when Lister sunk a 3-pointer to make it a 14-point advantage. The hometown Lions never went away and even cut the deficit in half with two minutes to go, but the effort proved too little too late.
