MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg women's soccer head coach Brandon West has announced the addition of former Division I standout Jared Odenbeck to his coaching staff for the upcoming 2024 campaign.
"I am thrilled to bring Jared onto our coaching staff this fall," said West. "Collegiately, he played at the highest levels, including for one of the best programs in the country in Wake Forest before going on to a successful pro career. He has played in a College Cup and understands what it takes to win at the highest level."
Odenbeck completed his collegiate career at Wake Forest University after it began at Georgetown University in 2013. While at WFU, he helped the Demon Deacons to an NCAA National Championship Game appearance in 2016, an Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championship, and a pair of regular season conference titles. Appearing in nearly 60 games for Wake Forest, he earned the Walt Chyzowych Award For Leadership and Character following his senior campaign.
After college, Odenbeck went on to play professionally, first for the Charlotte Independence in 2017 before heading to Sweden and Lindome GIF later that year. He joined Tormenta FC in 2018 and made his way to the Western Suburbs Football Club of the New Zealand Premier League the following season. He was a member of Stumptown Athletic for three years before joining FC Tucson in 2021. He followed it up by joining Ljungskile SK in Sweden for the 2022-23 seasons.
"Jared has had great coaching experience at the high school and club levels where player development is crucial to make it to the next level," West continued. "He is also an awesome person who has high moral character and pursues excellence in all areas of life. I am blessed to have the staff I do and to add Jared is just another blessing. I cannot wait for him to get started."
Odenbeck has a plethora of coaching experience at various levels, joined the ranks of Performance Unlimited in Charlotte, N.C. in 2017 before coming onboard as an assistant with the Charlotte Eagles U19 group later that year. He became as assistant for Charlotte Christian School for three seasons and added U12 to his repertoire with Western Suburbs/Olé Football Academy in New Zealand in 2019.
"I am honored to join Brandon West's staff at Penn State Harrisburg and look forward to working with a fantastic group of driven, experienced, and committed coaches," said Odenbeck. "I am excited to support this group of players and do everything I can to help them grow and reach their collective and individual goals."
The Lions open the 2024 campaign at Dickinson under the lights on Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
