Men's Hoops Tops Bridgewater (Va.) to Win Third Straight

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's basketball team picked up its third straight victory thanks to a 64-53 win over Bridgewater (Va.) in non-conference action at the Capital Union Building on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 14.

Isaiah Eggleston posted a double-double and led all scorers with 21 points and 10 rebounds to go along with six blocks, four assists, and a pair of steals. Chris Henderson netted 18 points and Lance Douglas pulled down nine rebounds on the day.

Both offenses struggled to find a rhythm early, with the Eagles (5-4) clinging to a 9-6 lead after 10 minutes of action before Henderson tied things up with a 3-ball at the 9:55 mark of the opening half. Six straight points from Eggleston pushed the advantage to 15-9 and a Douglas triple made it 18-11 with 5:47 left until halftime. Bridgewater cut the deficit to four but Penn State Harrisburg (5-5) closed out the half with a 5-0 run capped by a Mason Pulliam buzzer-beating floater in the lane that made it 28-19 at the break.

The Lions grabbed their first double-digit lead of the day when Jordan Spencer knocked down a jumper on the team's first second-half possession but the visitors scored five straight to cut the deficit to six at the 17:36 mark. Penn State Harrisburg responded with an 8-0 spurt that included six points from Henderson and an Eggleston layup, stretching the lead to 38-24 with 15:59 remaining.

The home team led by as many as 15 points midway through the second half but the Eagles pulled to within nine with 4:01 left to play. Larry Onabanwo slowed the Bridgewater momentum and halted any comeback attempt by converting six consecutive free throws over the next minute and a half.
