Women's Basketball Holds Off Rutgers-Camden

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's basketball team held off non-conference opponent Rutgers-Camden 73-59 on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 23 at the Capital Union Building.

Mikayla Coleman netted a career-high 23 points, as she went 5-for-8 from 3-point range and added three steals. Giahny Correa was 9-of-10 from the charity stripe en route to 18 points, while Jordan Carpenter posted yet another double-double with 15 points and 13 boards.

After a back-and-forth battle in the opening quarter that left the Scarlet Raptors (3-2) ahead 17-16, the Lions (3-1) took control of the contest in the second frame thanks to balanced scoring by the home team. Penn State Harrisburg went on a key six-point run late in the second, which began with two consecutive layups from Ali Lister and Correa and was capped off with a pair of free throws from Carpenter.

Coleman was dominate in the third quarter for the home team, as she accounted for eight of Penn State Harrisburg's 11 total points in the frame. The Manchester, Pa. native went 2-for-2 from beyond the arc and did the same from the foul line to fuel the squad's momentum going into the final quarter. The Lions went 11-of-12 from the free throw line in the fourth, which proved to be the difference in keeping Rutgers-Camden from clawing back.
