LA PLUME, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball team battled to secure a five-set victory over United East Conference opponent Keystone on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 12.
Hannah DeGregory was all over the floor for the Lions, as she led the team with 11 kills and added 12 assists, four digs, and a pair of block assists. Mackenzy Miller tallied 28 assists from her setter position and also served five aces against the Giants. Charlotte Nguyen and Camryn Wettstone had 19 combined kills, while Kate Bukowksi had a team-high 15 digs on the afternoon.
Penn State Harrisburg (12-5, 3-0 United East) came out strong and swiped the first two sets 25-11 and 25-20 before Keystone (15-3, 3-1 United East) turned the tides in their favor and forced the contest into a fifth set. In the final set, the Lions tied the score up 4-4 and then took over thanks to a offensive several errors by the Giants and a kill from Nguyen for good measure to earn the overall 3-2 victory.
The Lions had their most impressive outing in the second set, as the squad recorded 13 kills which was good enough for a hitting percentage of .267. As a team, Penn State Harrisburg posted 52 digs, 49 kills, 46 assists, and 11 aces against the hometown Giants.
NOTABLES
- DeGregory had a team-high 11 kills and added 12 assists, four digs, and two block assist.
- M. Miller recorded 28 assists to go along with nine digs and five service aces.
- Bukowski tallied 15 digs, while Emmaline Stevens and Julia Choe both had seven digs each.
