MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – No. 14 Johns Hopkins proved too much for Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team in a 4-0 non-conference setback on Wednesday night, Oct. 23.
The nationally-ranked Blue Jays (10-2-3) struck twice in the first 10 minutes, with Megha Salvi opening the scoring with the game's first goal off a Carrie McIntire assist in the sixth minute. Katie Sullivan doubled the advantage with a marker off an Olivia Redden helper two minutes later.
Sullivan added her second tally of the night less than three minutes into the second half, this time off a find from Salvi before a handball in the box gave the Blue Jays a penalty kick opportunity that Maria Romo-Nichols converted in the 49th minute.
The Lions (7-5-4) put together a promising stretch midway through the second half, resulting in a handful of good looks from Julia Hughes and Diana Pon but JHU goalkeeper Allyson Shick made a couple of stops to preserve the shutout for the visitors.
