MORRISTOWN, N.J. – For the fourth game in a row, the offense was on full display for Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team in a decisive 9-0 shutout victory over United East foe St. Elizabeth on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 12.
Diana Pon, Katelyn Monette, and Serenity Hill each registered two goals on the day, while Julia Hughes and Sydney Armstrong added one apiece. The defense was also strong and did not cede a single shot to the Eagles (5-6-1, 2-3-0 United East) on Saturday.
Hughes wasted little time netting the game winner, converting the contest's first goal just 5:40 into the outing. Hill doubled the advantage six minutes later off a feed from Hughes before she added another just two minutes later, this time off an assist from Katie Brown.
Pon got into the scoring act in the 23rd minute, with Hughes picking up her second assist of the day in the process. Before the first half was through, Monette added a marker to push the advantage to 5-0 heading into the break.
After halftime, Ava Myers stretched the lead to 6-0 with a strike off a feed from Hill in the 72nd minute before Pon converted a penalty kick less than two minutes later. Monette added her second marker of the afternoon in the 81st minute before an own goal with less than five minutes to play capped the day's scoring.
