ANNVILLE, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis team got back to the .500 mark with a 4-3 non-conference victory at Lebanon Valley on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 3.
The Lions (2-2) swept through doubles play to earn the overall point and jump out to a 1-0 advantage heading into singles action. Allison Wootton and Breanna DeSantis handled LVC's top duo of Sarah McComas and Catherine Stone 6-2, while Anita Liu and Hailey Dey worked hard to earn a 7-6 (7-4) victory over Erika Banner and Katie Berra in the No. 2 matchup. Ellen Muganyizi and Carissa Fallon completed the sweep with a 6-4 win over Abbey DeLisio and Nikki Denbowski in the No. 3 contest.
In solo play, Wootton continued her dominant afternoon with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over McComas in the top showdown, while DeSantis shook off a first-set setback to snatch a 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 comeback win from Banner in the second pairing. Liu topped Berra 7-5, 6-1 in the No. 3 matchup and Penn State Harrisburg claimed the one-point victory in the match.
The Lions will look to wrap up the fall portion of their 2024-25 campaign when they travel to Penn State Altoona on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
