MTEN Wraps up Fall with Thrilling Win over Goucher

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's tennis team closed out its fall season in impressive fashion, edging the defending Landmark Conference champions from Goucher in a thrilling 4-3 comeback victory at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Wednesday night, Oct. 16.

After the Gophers (1-1) secured the match's overall doubles point and took a 3-0 lead early in singles play, the Lions (4-1) roared back, starting with a 7-5, 6-3 win by Kevin Liang over Goucher's George King in the No. 3 outing.

Damir Cuturic kept the home team in it with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Benedikt Rummel in the No. 2 matchup before Derwin Merca tied the match with a hard-fought 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 decision against Guilherme Moraes in the No. 5 contest. With every other singles match complete, Mark Hou eventually clinched the memorable victory with a 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 win over Gabe Naftoly in a clash of each team's top players.

The fall portion of Penn State Harrisburg's 2024-25 campaign is now complete. The Lions will open spring competition in March.
