Women's Tennis Keeps Rolling With Sweep of Abington

ABINGTON, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis team stayed perfect in conference play after rolling to an impressive 9-0 road win over United East foe Penn State Abington on Saturday afternoon, April 9. 

 

The visiting Lions (5-4, 2-0 United East) swept through doubles action, with Sydney Nye and Breanna DeSantis rolling to an 8-1 victory in the top contest. Isabella Pizzelanti and Sarah Shaub combined for an 8-1 win in the No. 2 outing, while Annalisa Petrascu and Cassandra Giinder claimed an 8-2 decision in the third matchup.

 

Nye kept the momentum going in singles play as she handled Michelle Ly 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 contest. Pizzelanti, Shaub, and Petrascu also earned sweeps in the third, fourth, and fifth solo matchups, respectively. DeSantis came away with a 6-1, 6-2 win in the No. 2 pairing and Giinder wrapped up the sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 victory in the sixth matchup.

 

Penn State Harrisburg will look to remain undefeated in United East action when the Lions head south to take on conference foe St. Mary's (Md.) on Tuesday afternoon, April 12.
