Connor Markulec will begin his second season as the top assistant for Penn State Harrisburg men’s basketball in 2023-24.
During his first season with Penn State Harrisburg, Markulec helped lead the Lions to the semifinal round of the United East Championship Tournament in 2022-23. Nate Curry became just the second player in program history to earn all-region recognition when he was named to the D3hoops.com All-Region 4 Second Team. Curry was tabbed United East First-Team All-Conference, Zegary Scott III earned second-team all-conference honors, and freshman Chase Robinson was named the United East Rookie of the Year. Curry and Scott also reached individual milestones, with each player surpassing the 1,000-point scoring mark for their careers in February.
Before joining head coach Don Friday's staff, Markulec was a member of the University of the Sciences coaching staff during the 2021-22 season; the school’s final year of athletic competition. His responsibilities included film breakdown, scouting, analytics, and day-to-day operations.
Prior to joining the University of the Sciences, Markulec served as a graduate assistant on the men’s basketball coaching staff at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) during the abbreviated 2020-21 season. While there, he assisted with video coordination, individual and group workouts, scouting, and analytics.
Outside of the collegiate ranks, Markulec has also served as a coach for the Hoop Group Elite Camps in the summer of 2022 after serving as a coach at the Jr. 76ers Basketball Camps throughout the summer 2021.
Markulec graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Delaware in the spring of 2020. He is currently working towards earning his master’s degree in Sports Management from IUP.
