Women's Volleyball Opens United East Play With Convincing Victory

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball team opened conference play in convincing fashion by sweeping United East foe Penn College in three sets on Wednesday night, Sept. 30. The Lions secured the victory by set scores of 25-15, 25-16, and 25-5.

Camryn Wettstone led the way with 16 kills and a pair of blocks, while Brianna Ondishin Ribon finished with eight kills, 11 digs, and two service aces. Ariana Pecunes racked up five aces of her own, Mackenzie Miller tallied 17 assists, and Tesia Oliva recorded three blocks.

Penn State Harrisburg (7-5, 1-0 United East) used an 8-3 run midway through the opening set to create a cushion it wouldn't relinquish. From there, the Lions used kills from Ellie Brown and Wettstone, along with a couple of Pecunes aces to put it away. The second set was tight early but the visitors put together an 8-0 spurt during another Pecunes service run to grab the momentum. Abigail Frownfelter added back-to-back aces to seal the win. The final set was all Penn State Harrisburg, as the Lions used a massive 13-0 run during another key Pecunes service run to put things out of reach for good before Tobi West closed out the match with a kill off a Mollie Shadle assist.
