Field Hockey Blanks Albright In Season-Opening Victory

READING, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's field hockey team opened the 2026 campaign with a convincing 2-0 shutout victory at Albright on Wednesday night, Sept. 2.

Astrid Comp and Bailey Rucker each found the back of the cage, while Sadie Cook recorded an assist. The defense was stout, limiting Albright (0-1) to just one total shot on the night. Penn State Harrisburg (1-0) also finished with a massive 20-2 advantage in penalty corners.

The visiting Lions wasted little time getting on the board, taking advantage of a penalty corner in the fifth minute. Cook inserted a ball that found the stick of Comp and the latter fired her attempt past Albright goalkeeper Delena Dunkelberger at the 9:30 mark of the opening quarter.

Penn State Harrisburg controlled the pace the rest of the way and eventually added an insurance goal midway through fourth quarter when Rucker rebounded a shot from Emma Stahl and lifted it above the stick of Dunkelberger with 6:21 left to play.

NOTABLES
- Comp netted the team's first goal of the season. It held up as the game-winning score and was the fourth of her career.

- Penn State Harrisburg finished with a 19-1 advantage in total shots.
- The visitors held a massive 20-2 advantage in penalty corners.
