Men's Soccer Stifled at Carnegie Mellon

PITTSBURGH - Penn State Harrisburg's men's soccer team dropped a 5-0 decision to Carnegie Mellon in non-conference action on Friday night, Sept. 19.

The Lions (0-5-1) struggled to find their offensive footing in the first half and the hometown Tartans (4-1-1) took advantage, scoring twice in the opening 20 minutes and twice more in the final four minutes of the first half.

After the break, Carnegie Mellon struck again to push the lead to 5-0 midway through the second half but Penn State Harrisburg came to life during a 10-minute stretch that saw the visitors get off three shots, including one on frame from Jonathan Hernandez. The Lions were unable to convert, however, and the Tartans rode out the clock with a comfortable cushion.

NOTABLES
- Hernandez got off the lone shot on goal for Penn State Harrisburg.
- Josiah Shamberger finished with a team-high two shots.
- Jimmy Shensky made five stops in goal for the Lions.
- The Tartans outshot Penn State Harrisburg 19-9 overall.
- Carnegie Mellon finished with a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

WHO'S NEXT?
The Lions host Susquehanna for another non-conference contest on Tuesday night.
