LATHAM, N.Y. - Thanks to his outstanding combination of athletic and academic success, as well as his service to his campus and surrounding communities, Penn State Harrisburg's Colin Flack has been named the United East Men's Tennis Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year.  


The senior scholar-athlete award is one of the highest individual honors the conference bestows. The award is granted to one senior from each sport who represents the epitome of the student-athlete model thanks to their high level of performance on the field of play, in the classroom, and in their community. 


Flack recently completed his career by earning United East All-Conference First Team recognition as a doubles player after pairing with Ved Pawar to go 6-1 as a duo this spring. The Mechanicsburg, Pa. native also tallied nine victories as a singles player and finished a perfect 7-0 in conference play. Thanks to his efforts, Penn State Harrisburg has made three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances after winning three straight United East Championships dating back to his sophomore campaign.


"Colin is the epitome of what our program is about at Penn State Harrisburg," said head coach Andrew Bookman. "He is always looking to improve and better not only himself, but his teammates. He is the ultimate competitor, taking time outside of practice to hit and fine tune his game throughout the season. Off the court, Colin is an even better person and teammate, embodying our team-first values and pursuing excellence in everything he does. I am proud of what Colin has given and meant to the program, and I know that he will continue to give his best effort in all that he does going forward."


He's also been consistently strong in the classroom throughout his career. Flack is a two-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete, a multiple-time United East All-Academic Team honoree, and he was inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. The Cybersecurity Analytics and Operations major posted an impressive 3.85 cumulative GPA and recently graduated in May.


In addition to his athletic and academic achievements, Flack has also volunteered his time at the Horn Farm Center for Agricultural Education, helping with landscaping, planting trees, and mending degraded ecosystems to create healthy habitats for wildlife. He's also helped out at numerous local tennis camps throughout his career.
