No. 12 Salisbury Pulls Away From Baseball In Late Innings

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's baseball team hung with No. 12/12 Salisbury into the middle innings but the nationally-ranked Sea Gulls pulled away in the final frames of their 10-2, non-conference victory on Thursday afternoon.

Nathan Lapp had a multi-hit game, driving in one run and scoring another. Blaine Waltimyer drove in a run, while James Quick and Coy Schwanger accounted for the team's other two hits.

It was a back-and-forth contest to begin the game, with Salisbury (26-9) scoring the game's first run in the top of the second before Penn State Harrisburg (25-12) tied things up with a single run in the bottom half when Lapp singled through the left side to drive in Demetre Koutras III.

The Sea Gulls retook the lead with one run in the top of the fourth but Waltimyer came through with an RBI single to shallow center field that plated Lapp and tied things up again in the bottom of the fifth.

The visitors took a one-run advantage in the sixth but broke through in the seventh to tack on two more and take their first multi-run lead of the day. After a two-run home run added some insurance in the top of the ninth, Salisbury closed out the final stanza with three unearned runs.
