Waltimyer Earns Second United East Player of the Week Accolade

LATHAM, N.Y. - After an eye-popping week at the plate, Penn State Harrisburg's Blaine Waltimyer has been named the United East Baseball Player of the Week for the second time this season.

The latest weekly accolade is Waltimyer's second of the spring after he secured the same honor in early March. Along with teammates Fisher Druck and Tim Haftl, he is one of three Penn State Harrisburg players to earn the conference's weekly award this season.

Waltimyer was a menace at the plate last week. Across five games, the outfielder slashed an impressive .667/.682/1.333 with a monster 2.015 OPS. The senior drove in eight runs, scored eight more, walked five times, swiped three bags and racked up 20 total bases thanks in part to three home runs and a double. Across a doubleheader sweep of Penn State Abington on Saturday, he homered three times and had four extra-base hits before reaching base four times, scoring a pair of runs and driving in another in a victory at No. 25 Mary Washington the following day.

Winners of seven of their last eight, the Lions (22-10) will look to stay hot when they host Marymount (Va.) for a crucial non-conference contest on Monday afternoon.
