MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's basketball team closed out the regular season with an 82-58 loss to United East foe Lancaster Bible at the Capital Union Building on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 14.
Lauren Moffatt posted a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while
Mikayla Coleman added 11 points and five boards.
Nicole Hernandez recorded nine points and five rebounds and
Molli Hogbin chipped in eight points of her own.
The Chargers (10-15, 8-5 United East) earned a nine-point cushion late in the first quarter thanks to equal scoring by Isabella Eufemia and Emily Wilson. Penn State Harrisburg's (8-17, 7-6 United East) down-low duo of Moffatt and Hogbin attempted to combat Lancaster Bible's offensive pressure, however the away team went into the second quarter up 19-12.
Rachel Nolt contributed significantly to Lancaster Bible's performance in the second quarter, opening the scoring with a jumper at 9:35 and adding another a little over a minute later. The Lions struggled to keep pace despite Moffatt's efforts, who scored points early in the quarter. The Chargers added a layup and an old-fashioned 3-point play to keep the 37-23 lead at the half.
The visitors maintained the advantage throughout the third quarter, bolstered by Wilson's 3-pointer at 8:29 and multiple layups by Hunter. The Lions countered with
Akira Cho's pair of 3-pointers, narrowing the gap briefly. In the last minute of the quarter, Moffatt scored two layups to bring the score to 53-41.
Lancaster Bible's Eufemia caught fire in the fourth quarter, scoring 20 of her game-high 28 points in the period to put things out of reach for good.
