Women's Volleyball Defeats Gallaudet In Four Sets

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball team stayed unbeaten in conference play thanks to a four-set victory over United East foe Gallaudet at the Capital Union Building on Tuesday night, Oct. 6.

Brianna Ondishin Ribon posted a 16-kill, 12-dig double-double, while reigning United East Offensive Player of the Week Camryn Wettstone finished with a dozen kills and eight digs. Kate Bukowski racked up 21 digs and Mackenzy Miller had a team-high 20 assists. Emily Miller and Chasya Deliazard added six kills apiece.

The Lions (9-6, 3-0 United East) took control of the opening set thanks to a 5-0 run that included kills from Deliazard and Ondishin Ribon. After the Bison (9-8, 1-2 United East) cut the deficit to one, the home team pushed the lead back to 15-11 behind a Wettstone kill. Gallaudet pulled to within one at 22-21 but Penn State Harrisburg closed it out with three straight points.

The Bison pulled ahead 10-9 to begin set two but the Lions put together a 5-0 spurt during a Miller service run to take control midway through thanks to four Ondishin Ribon kills. The visitors cut it 21-19 in the closing moments but Penn State Harrisburg put together another late 4-0 run to finish it off.

After dropping the third set, the Lions rallied from a 5-2 deficit to begin the fourth and pulled ahead 6-5 thanks to a kill from Tesia Oliva. Penn State Harrisburg extended the advantage to 11-6 but the Bison refused to go away and pulled to within 12-11 at the midway point. The home team reeled off four straight punctuated by a Wettstone kill and after a series of service errors on both sides, the Lions took control down the stretch, scoring four of the last six to seal the conference victory.
