LATHAM, N.Y. - Thanks to her efforts in a pair of recent shutout victories, Penn State Harrisburg women's soccer player Abigail Frew has been named the United East Defensive Player of the Week.
Frew was one of the anchors of a back line that led Penn State Harrisburg to a pair of shutout victories last week. In a rematch of the last two United East Championship Games, the fifth-year center back helped limit St. Mary's (Md.) to just one shot on goal in a 2-0 road victory on Tuesday night before helping lead a defensive unit that surrendered only three shots on frame in a 5-0 win over Cairn on Saturday afternoon. The two clean sheets extended Penn State Harrisburg's streak of not allowing a goal in regular-season conference play to 13 straight games.
The Lions continue conference play when they host United East foe Penn College on Wednesday night.
