Field Hockey Opens Conference Play With Shutout Victory

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's field hockey team opened conference play with a 3-0 shutout victory over United East foe Immaculata on Friday evening, Oct. 2.

Lily Howry converted the game-winning goal, while Astrid Comp and Sara Yeselavage also found the back of the cage. Anna Moyer added an assist and Nisa Kece made five saves to preserve the shutout win.

The Mighty Macs (2-8, 0-1 United East) had some early chances to get on the board first but Kece and her defense made timely stops to keep the game scoreless after one. The Lions (5-5, 1-0 United East) broke through early in the second quarter when a penalty corner culminated with Howry putting back a rebound to get the home team on the board first.

Penn State Harrisburg doubled the advantage late in the third quarter when another penalty corner resulted in Comp finishing off an attempt from point-blank range. The Lions started the fourth the same way they ended the third—with a goal off a penalty corner. Yeselavage put her attempt past Immaculata goalkeeper Annamae Jones and into the right side of the cage off a feed from Moyer just 1:41 into the final period to put things out of reach.
