LATHAM, N.Y. - Thanks to her stellar efforts in three games last week, Penn State Harrisburg women's basketball player
Lauren Moffatt has been named the United East Defensive Player of the Week.
Â
Moffatt turned in the best stretch of her young career to lead the Lions to a pair of conference victories last week. The sophomore opened the week with a 15-point, 12-rebound double-double in a narrow road loss on Monday night before finishing a bucket shy of another double-double in a win over Penn State Berks on Wednesday night in which she tallied a career-high 15 rebounds, eight points and three steals. The forward saved her best for last, netting a career-high 21 points, grabbing 10 boards, swiping four steals and dishing out three assists to record another double-double in a come-from-behind victory against Gallaudet on Saturday afternoon. In a game Penn State Harrisburg trailed by 21 entering the final frame, the Mountville, Pa. native scored 17 points and went 8-for-8 from the foul line in the fourth quarter to spark the comeback effort. For the week, Moffatt averaged 14.7 points and 12.3 rebounds per game, finished a perfect 22-for-22 from the foul line and added seven steals, five assists and a block.Â
The Lions (4-12, 3-2 United East) continue conference play when they travel to Notre Dame (Md.) on Tuesday night.Â
