LATHAM, N.Y. - Thanks to her stellar efforts in three games last week, Penn State Harrisburg women's basketball player Lauren Moffatt has been named the United East Defensive Player of the Week.
 

Moffatt turned in the best stretch of her young career to lead the Lions to a pair of conference victories last week. The sophomore opened the week with a 15-point, 12-rebound double-double in a narrow road loss on Monday night before finishing a bucket shy of another double-double in a win over Penn State Berks on Wednesday night in which she tallied a career-high 15 rebounds, eight points and three steals. The forward saved her best for last, netting a career-high 21 points, grabbing 10 boards, swiping four steals and dishing out three assists to record another double-double in a come-from-behind victory against Gallaudet on Saturday afternoon. In a game Penn State Harrisburg trailed by 21 entering the final frame, the Mountville, Pa. native scored 17 points and went 8-for-8 from the foul line in the fourth quarter to spark the comeback effort. For the week, Moffatt averaged 14.7 points and 12.3 rebounds per game, finished a perfect 22-for-22 from the foul line and added seven steals, five assists and a block. 


The Lions (4-12, 3-2 United East) continue conference play when they travel to Notre Dame (Md.) on Tuesday night.
