Men's Hoops Defeats Gallaudet to Remain Unbeaten In Conference Play

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's basketball team stayed perfect in conference play and stretched its recent win streak to three in a row with a comfortable 87-55 victory over United East foe Gallaudet at the Capital Union Building on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 10.

Dylan Moore led the way with a team-high 18 points and five rebounds, while David Reed IV was the only other player to reach the double-digit scoring mark with 12 points. Chris Henderson Jr. and Jordan Spencer netted eight points apiece, while Kevin Lucas Jr., Elija Eccleston and Jayson Fain each added seven off the bench.

The Lions (9-7, 5-0 United East) jumped out to a 10-3 advantage in the early going and eventually stretched the lead to double digits thanks to a Moore 3-ball off a Spencer feed that made it 16-5 at the 14:23 mark. Gallaudet (1-10, 0-4 United East) cut the deficit to four at the 11:00 mark but Penn State Harrisburg responded with a game-changing 21-0 run over the next seven minutes. The spurt included triples from Lucas, Eccleston, Isaiah Milien and Andre Thomas III and allowed the home team to take a commanding 47-23 lead into halftime.

Penn State Harrisburg kept rolling after the break, with Moore scoring the first five points of the second half and a Spencer layup capping a 9-0 run that increased the advantage to 56-23 with 16:29 left to play. Milien connected on another attempt from beyond the arc to push the lead to 63-27 at the 13:50 mark and the Lions took their largest lead of the day at 77-40 thanks to an Antwone George layup in transition off an assist from Lucas with 6:19 left.

The home team put together one last 8-0 run sparked by a pair of Fain free throws and capped by a foul shot from George with 1:51 remaining to put the finishing touches on a decisive conference victory.
