EWING, N.J. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team fell to TCNJ 3-1 in a non-conference match on Saturday afternoon, September 20.
Diana Pon scored the lone goal for the Lions (3-4-1) in just the opening minutes, but the visitors were unable to hold off TCNJ (3-3-2) and their offensive prowess as they netted three markers to earn the 3-1 victory.
The first half began with an early offensive push from Penn State Harrisburg, as
Diana Pon found the back of the net at the 7-minute mark with a skid-shot that got past TCNJ goalkeeper Ellen Williams. Despite
Katherine Eimer's strong performance in goal, including a key save in the 14th minute, the hometown Lions managed to level the score in the 18th minute and continued to apply pressure. Two more goals before halftime gave TCNJ a 3-1 edge heading into the break.
Penn State Harrisburg attempted to claw back throughout the second half, as
Serenity Hill had a pair of shots on frame and
Julia Hughes had one of her own that ultimately went just wide of the goal. Eimer had two key saves that kept the contest within striking distance, but the visiting Lions could not find their momentum on offense and TCNJ walked away with a 3-1 victory.
