Men's Soccer Frustrated In Setback to FDU-Florham

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Despite outshooting FDU-Florham and holding a significant edge in corner kicks, Penn State Harrisburg's men's soccer team suffered a frustrating 2-0 setback in non-conference action on Saturday evening, September 13.

Goalkeeper Ethan Smith anchored the defense for Penn State Harrisburg (2-4-0), making two crucial saves in the opening minutes to keep the match level. Tai Bhalla came close to opening the scoring in the 27th minute with a shot that went just over the crossbar. Malachi Abma contributed defensively with a key save at the 32nd minute to maintain the stalemate as the teams went into halftime still tied.

Just a minute into the second half, the Lions conceded an own goal which placed FDU-Florham (3-1-1) ahead by one. Despite multiple attempts to regain control, including four corner kicks by Alexander Benbatoul within just minutes of each other, the home team was unable to capitalize on several opportunities. Smith had another three important saves in the second half to keep the game close, but the Devils extended their lead with a goal by Christian Adame in the 79th minute, concluding the match with a 2-0 advantage over Penn State Harrisburg.
