MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg women's basketball seniors
Giahny Correa,
Jordan Carpenter, and
Ali Lister led the squad to a convincing 74-55 United East victory over Saint Elizabeth on Saturday, Feb. 14. The upperclassmen trio combined to score 59 of the Lions' total points for their senior celebration at the Capital Union Building.
Â
Carpenter netted a team-high 27 points to go along with eight rebounds and four blocks, while Correa had 17 points and dished out seven assists. Lister recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds and added five assists and four steals.
Â
Thanks to a massive 26-point opening quarter, Penn State Harrisburg (17-8, 11-5 United East) got ahead early and never looked back. The home team held Saint Elizabeth (14-11, 10-6 United East) to just six points in the first frame and all the momentum the Lions needed fell in the hands of Correa. Correa  went 4-for-4 from the field, knocked down a pair of free throws, and even found time to give out a pair of assists in the first 10 minutes of the contest.  Â
Â
Although the Eagles went on a 9-0 surge with 4:01 left in the second frame, the Lions quickly went a run of their own with the help of a Carpenter layup and a Coleman 3-ball to bring the lead back to double digits before halftime.
Â
In the second half, Saint Elizabeth's Ahjionae Cobb tried everything she could to help the visitors to cut the deficit, as she scored 16 of her team-high 22 points in the last two quarters. However, the Eagles had no answer for Carpenter's 10-point third frame as well as her fellow senior teammates Correa and Lister who combined for 10 points in the final quarter.
