MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's basketball team closed out the regular season in impressive fashion by defeating United East foe Saint Elizabeth 95-60 at the Capital Union Building on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 15.
Lance Douglas matched a career-high 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while
Chris Henderson added 18 points and eight boards off the bench.
Isaiah Eggleston finished with 17 points and seven rebounds, while
Jordan Spencer flirted with a double-double with nine points and eight boards.
Eggleston got the scoring started and
Russel Nie added a pair of early free throws on Senior Day before a
Mason Pulliam 3-ball made it 16-9 at the 14:10 mark of the opening half. The Lions (17-8, 13-3 United East) kept the momentum rolling midway through the half when Douglas buried a pair of triples to stretch the lead to 14 with nine minutes left before the break.
Leading 33-22 at the 7:14 mark, Penn State Harrisburg put together a game-changing 16-0 run bookended by back-to-back Henderson layups and a Henderson jumper off a find from
Nate Townsend to increase the advantage to 49-22 with 2:11 remaining before halftime.
The Eagles (10-5, 8-8 United East) used a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to 18 early in the second half but the home team answered by scoring 15 of the game's next 17 points. Henderson knocked down a triple and Douglas added a pair of 3-balls during the spurt to push the lead to 68-35 with 15:21 left to play.
The Lions maintained a comfortable margin the rest of the way before Douglas, Eggleston and Nie received their Senior Day curtain calls in the final minutes, while
Justin Leddo put an exclamation point on the regular season with a two-handed slam in the closing seconds. Â
