LANCASTER, Pa. - After mounting a sizable first-half lead, Penn State Harrisburg men's basketball held off a second-half charge from Lancaster Bible in a valuable 85-80 United East victory on Monday night that extended the team's recent win streak to seven in a row.
Isaiah Eggleston continued his strong play as of late, leading the way with his sixth double-double of the season that included a game-high 27 points and 15 rebounds. Chris Henderson finished with 15 points, while Jordan Spencer added 11. Lance Douglas chipped in with nine points and six rebounds.
The Lions (16-7, 12-2 United East) led by as many as 23 points following an Eggleston old-fashioned 3-point play early in the second half but Lancaster Bible (16-7, 11-3 United East) methodically chipped away over the course of a seven-minute span and eventually pulled to within 54-48 with 12:55 left to play.
Penn State Harrisburg used layups from Henderson and Dylan Moore to push the advantage back to double digits, including a 70-59 lead following another Eggleston layup off a Douglas feed with 6:31 remaining. From there, the Chargers went on a 12-2 run over the ensuing three minutes to cut the deficit to one possession with 3:41 to play but the Lions answered with four straight Eggleston points and seven free throws down the stretch to push back against the LBC tide and complete the regular-season sweep of their conference rivals.
After going back and forth in the early going, Penn State Harrisburg put together the first substantial run of the night midway through the first half, taking a one-point deficit and turning in into a 46-24 lead over the course of 12 minutes before taking a comfortable 46-26 advantage into the break.
