LA PLUME, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's basketball team used a fourth quarter push to secure a 57-39 road victory over United East foe Keystone on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 6.
Lauren Moffatt led the way with a 12-point, 14-rebound double-double. Mikayla Coleman scored a game-high 20 points and Molli Hogbin finished with 14 points and five rebounds.
The Lions (2-7, 1-1 United East) jumped out to a 7-0 lead following a Moffatt layup off a Hogbin find at the 6:42 mark of the first quarter and eventually stretched their lead to 11-2 thanks to a free throw from Azaria Bryant Franklin with 4:36 left in the opening period.
Trailing 14-7 after one, the Giants (1-9, 1-1 United East) rallied back and used a couple of 3-balls to pull to within one at 16-15 before Penn State Harrisburg closed out the half with a Coleman layup to lead 22-19 at the break.
Keystone took its first lead of the game at 24-22 early in the second half but the visitors used a key 9-0 run capped by a pair of Bre'ijha Painter free throws to pull back out in front 31-24 at the 3:33 mark of the third quarter. The home team made it a one possession game but the Lions closed out the period with another spurt to lead 37-30 after three.
Penn State Harrisburg turned it up in the final 10 minutes and outscored the Giants 20-9 in the final frame to turn a close contest to a comfortable victory and first win in conference play this season.
