MADISON, N.J. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's basketball team was unable to climb out of an early hole in a 69-33 road loss to Drew in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 30.
Brookelynn Carr finished with five points and four rebounds off the bench, while Molli Hogbin grabbed a team-high six boards and added a team-best two assists in a reserve role. Kennadi Johnson had six points and three steals, Mikayla Coleman scored seven points and Akira Cho chipped in with five.
The Rangers (5-2) executed well in the early going and jumped out to a comfortable 22-0 lead to begin the game. Penn State Harrisburg (1-6) eventually stopped the bleeding when Azaria Bryant Franklin converted a fastbreak layup with 28 seconds left in the first quarter before Johnson connected on a 3-ball to close out the opening period.
The Lions opened the second with a 4-0 run to cut the deficit to 22-9 following a Nicole Hernandez layup and a pair of Bre'ijha Painter free throws but Drew answered back with a pivotal 16-4 spurt that stretched the advantage to 38-15 heading into halftime.
Johnson and Cho buried back-to-back 3-pointers midway through the third quarter to make the score 48-24 at the 4:03 mark but another 7-2 run to end the period gave the Rangers a 55-26 lead with 10 minutes remaining. Drew maintained its advantage in the fourth before Carr closed out the contest with five straight points for the Penn State Harrisburg.
