GETTYSBURG, Pa. - No. 11/24 Gettysburg proved too much for Penn State Harrisburg's women's basketball team as the Lions dropped a 76-43 non-conference decision at Bream Gymnasium on Tuesday night, Nov. 18.
Lauren Moffatt flirted with a double-double, finishing with seven points and a team-high eight rebounds. Mikayla Coleman added 14 points, Akira Cho knocked down three jumpers from beyond the arc to tally nine points and Nicole Hernandez pulled down six boards.
The Bullets (3-1) scored the contest's first bucket on their first possession before a scoreless drought ensued for the next four minutes of game time. Gettysburg broke it with a 3-ball and led 9-0 before Moffatt got the the Lions (0-4) on the board with a midrange jumper. Kennadi Johnson added a triple to cut the deficit to 15-5 after one.
Gettysburg came to life in the second, scoring the quarter's first seven points, getting out in transition and eventually burying four 3-balls in the period to take a 40-12 lead into halftime despite the offensive efforts of Cho, Sarah Skaggs and Brooklynn Carr. Hernandez converted the first point of the second half but the Bullets stayed hot from distance, connecting on five 3-pointers in the third to build a insurmountable cushion they would maintain in the final frame.
