Women's Basketball Tripped Up at Marywood

SCRANTON, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's basketball team dropped an 80-60 decision to Marywood on the road on Tuesday night, Nov. 12.

Nicole Hernandez led the way with an 11-point, 10 rebound double-double, while Kennadi Johnson connected on four 3-pointers to total a dozen points. Akira Cho also buried four triples to add 12 points off the bench.

The Lions (0-2) jumped out to an early 6-0 lead thanks to back-to-back 3-balls from Johnson but Marywood (1-2) clawed back into it as the opening quarter wore on, using a late 11-2 run to take a 23-14 advantage into the second.

Penn State Harrisburg cut the deficit to 26-25 following a pair of Cho trifectas but the Pacers kept the visitors at bay with another timely run to close out the quarter. Marywood used a 14-7 spurt to close out the half to stretch the lead to 40-32 at the break.

The third quarter proved the difference, with the Pacers erupting out of halftime and netting 10 straight points before ultimately outscoring the Lions 27-11 in the third period. Trailing by 24 after three, Penn State Harrisburg ran out of gas in its effort to make a late comeback push.
