Women's Soccer Cruises to Third Straight Conference Victory

PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team stayed perfect in conference play thanks to a dominant 11-0 shutout victory over United East foe Valley Forge on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 4.


Serenity Hill recorded a hat trick, while Julia Hughes and Victoria Heath scored two goals apiece. Diana Pon netted her 10th goal of the season, while Kara Slavin, Esmerelda Hernandez and Teagan Paragon each found the back of the net. Ciera Frick also finished with a pair of assists.


Hill got the scoring started with a goal just 31 seconds into the contest off an assist from Pon. The Lions (6-4-2, 3-0-0 United East) added two more quick markers when Slavin found the back of the net in the 10th minute and Hill buried her second of the day less than four minutes later. Heath, Hughes and Paragon all got into the scoring act late in the opening half to make it 7-0 heading into the break and Hill completed her hat trick just three and a half minutes into the second half.


Pon reached the double-digit scoring mark on the season in the 52nd minute and Hernandez converted a penalty kick little more than 10 minutes later before Hughes put a cap on the game's scoring with her second of the contest with 25:19 to play.


NOTABLES
- The Lions have yet to surrender a goal through three conference contests.
- Penn State Harrisburg racked up 24 shots on goal and outshot the Patriots 33-0.
- The visitors managed nine corner kicks and held Valley Forge to none.
- Hill recorded a hat trick and added one assist to tally seven total points.

- Pon's goal was her team-leading 10th of the season.
- The shutout was Penn State Harrisburg's fifth of the fall.
