LANGHORNE, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's soccer team secured a 2-0 victory over United East Conference opponent Cairn on Wednesday evening, October 15.
Colin O'Hara had the game-winning goal in the first half before
Addis Tafese put things out of reach with a marker of his own in the 81st minute. Goalkeeper
Eymeris Acevedo earned the shutout for the Lions, tallying a pair of saves to keep the Highlanders scoreless.
Penn State Harrisburg (5-6-2, 3-0-1 United East) pressured Cairn (3-7-3, Â 2-2-1 United East) early with several shot attempts out of frame by
Kristopher Lage, O'Hara,
Kristian James, and
Dillon Gough before O'Hara's shot in the 24th minute found the back of the net to put the visitors up 1-0. The Highlanders managed a few shots on target but could not convert going into halftime.
In the second half, O'Hara had another shot that went just right of the goal, but Tafese capitalized in the 81st minute to give the Lions a much-needed cushion for the remainder of the match. Cairn attempted to respond with multiple shots, however Acevedo provided a pair of critical saves to preserve the shutout and Penn State Harrisburg ultimately earned the 2-0 victory.
