LATHAM, N.Y. - Thanks to her efforts in a pair of recent conference victories, Penn State Harrisburg's Kylie Yap has been named the United East Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.


Yap joins teammate Diana Pon as Penn State Harrisburg players to earn the conference's weekly award this season. 


Yap helped anchor a defensive unit that recorded a pair of shutout victories over conference foes last week. In a 1-0 road win at Penn College on Tuesday night, the reigning United East Defensive Player of the Year helped limit the Wildcats to just one shot on goal and two attempts total. The Voorhees, N.J. native followed it up by helping limit Penn State Berks to just two shots on target and three overall in another 1-0 victory on Saturday night. Thanks to the junior's efforts on the back line, goalkeeper Alexis Valenta needed to make just three saves to secure the pair of wins. 


The Lions (8-5-2, 5-0-0 United East) face a tough test when they travel to No. 1 Messiah for non-conference action on Tuesday night, Oct. 14.
