Field Hockey Suffers First Setback of the Season

Box Score

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's field hockey team suffered its first setback of the season on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 3-0 decision to an undefeated Stevenson squad.

Penalty corners made a difference from the jump, with the Mustangs (4-0) earning their first just three minutes into the contest. Emma Gladstein finished off an insertion from Lauren Schulz to put the visitors out in front and give them a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

The Lions (2-1) were stingy on defense for the remainder of the first half, fending off a handful of Stevenson attempts throughout the first and second quarters, keyed by three saves by Penn State Harrisburg goalkeeper Macenzie Mulholland.

The home team had a look at a potential game-tying score early in the third quarter following a penalty corner insertion from Giana Grelli that ended with Alexis Nasuta just missing high on her attempt from the top of the circle in the 31st minute. After the Lions were unable to capitalize, the Mustangs responded when Gladstein doubled the advantage off a look in front less than two minutes later.

Penn State Harrisburg battled into the fourth but Gladstein would not be denied the hat trick, scoring her third goal of the contest on her 11th attempt of the day off a feed from Lauren Tobin with less than three minutes remaining.
