Box Score MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team battled to a scoreless draw on Sunday night, Sept. 15 against non-conference opponent Franklin & Marshall.
The Diplomats (0-2-4) proved the aggressor on Sunday night, as the away team tallied 11 total shots compared to only two from the Lions (2-2-2) over the course of the contest. Penn State Harrisburg's Sydney Mulka had a stellar night in goal, posting five total saves, three of which were in the first half.
Penn State Harrisburg saw their first legitimate opportunity to put one on the board in the 62nd minute when Serenity Hill rocketed a shot to the top left corner, but Franklin & Marshall goalkeeper Lucy Fleming was able to punch it out of bounds. Both the Diplomats and the Lions were increasingly aggressive in the second frame, as there was a total of 12 corner kicks attempted between the two squads.
Around the 80th minute of the game Franklin & Marshall had three consecutive shots on goal, most notably was a laser from Kate Boujoukos that hit directly off the crossbar which led to another shot opportunity for the Diplomats that was high over the net. Penn State Harrisburg's Mulka was key to keeping the match even in the final minutes, when she had a highlight-reel save off of a firing Emily Cook who was just past the 18-yard box.
