Box Score 2 MIDDLETOWN, Pa - Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball team earned two more victories on Saturday, Sept. 14 in a tri-match against Wilkes and Rutgers-Camden at the Capital Union Building.
The Lions swept Wilkes in the first match of the day and secured the win at 25-18, 28-26, 25-19, before battling in a 25-14, 25-17, 16-25, 25-8 four-setter contest against Rutgers-Camden in the final outing of the day.
Against the Scarlet Raptors in the finale, Brianna Ondishin Ribon was all over the court for the Lions, as she led the team with 14 digs and 13 kills. Newcomer Mackenzy Miller undoubtedly impressed as well, tallying 29 assists, 10 digs, and eight service aces. Emily Miller added 12 kills, while Kate Bukowski had 12 digs defensively.
In the opener, Penn State Harrisburg got out to an early led in the first set versus the Colonels and didn't let go until they earned the 25-18 win to start the day. The next two frames were back-and-forth battles in which the Lions came out on top thanks to consistent play on both offense and defense. The second set went into extras due to the competitive nature of the match, but the home team found their momentum halfway through, scoring four straight points to find their biggest lead of the set. In the final set against Wilkes, the home team was able to cut a five-point deficit and turn the tides in their favor late to finalize the 3-0 victory.
NOTABLES
- M. Miller had a stellar Saturday afternoon, as she had 47 assists, 14 digs, and nine service aces. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native had eight aces in the second match of the day alone.
- Ondishin Ribon shined with 21 digs, 18 kills, and eight service aces between both contests.
- Against Wilkes, Tesla Oliva recorded seven kills and a pair of solo blocks.
- Camryn Wettstone earned a total of 17 kills and 11 digs across both matches.
- In game two against Rutgers-Camden, E. Miller provided 16 kills and Bukowski handled 14 digs.
