Box Score 2 FREDERICK, Md. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball team improved to 3-0 after beating both Notre Dame (Md.) and Hood in a tri-match on Saturday afternoon, August 31.
The Lions faced Notre Dame (Md.) in the first match of the day and secured the victory in four sets at 25-18, 12-25, 25-19, 27-19 before winning another four-setter 25-18, 25-23, 14-25, 25-21 against Hood in their last outing of the afternoon.
In the opener, Penn State Harrisburg relied on returners Emmaline Stevens and Hannah DeGregory on offense, as they both posted 13 kills apiece against the Gators. DeGregory also led the Lions with 15 assists, while first year Brooklynn Sheridan added 14 of her own. Julia Choe rounded things out on defense with 23 digs to protect the Blue & White's side of the net.
The Lions' second match of the day against the Blazers was back-and-forth from the start. Penn State Harrisburg took the first two sets before Hood earned the third frame by limiting the Blue & White's kills to only six. The last set of the match proved to be a pivotal back-and-forth battle between the Lions and Blazers. The two teams were tied twelve different times throughout the fourth frame, but Penn State Harrisburg ultimately came out on top 25-21 to end the day.
NOTABLES
- DeGregory had an another impressive outing, tallying 27 kills, 25 assists, 18 digs, three block assists, and a pair of aces over both matches.
- Choe dominated on defense for the Lions and finished with 26 digs on the day.
- Stevens totaled 22 digs and 16 kills over both games.
- Sheridan racked up 14 assists, eight digs, five kills, and a pair of block assists against the Gators.
- Brianna Ondishin Ribon recorded nine digs, six kills, and three aces in the second matchup.
- Against Notre Dame (Md.), Penn State Harrisburg had 78 digs, 50 kills, and 46 assists.
