Women's Basketball Uses Fourth-Quarter Comeback to Top Lancaster Bible

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's women's basketball team held off a second-half charge from conference foe Lancaster Bible and used a fourth-quarter comeback to secure a 66-60 victory at the Capital Union Building on Saturday night and remain unbeaten in United East play.

Jordan Carpenter recorded her fourth double-double  of the season, scoring 10 of her game-high 24 points in the fourth quarter to go along with 10 rebounds. Giahny Correa hit a trio of 3-pointers to finish with 18 points, while Mikayla Coleman added 13 points and six boards.

After trailing 32-26 at halftime, the Chargers (3-5, 0-2 United East) made adjustments that paid off in the third quarter, outscoring Penn State Harrisburg (5-1, 2-0 United East) 24-15 in the frame to pull ahead 50-47 heading into the final period.

From there, Carpenter took over, going 4-of-5 from the floor and 2-for-3 from the foul line to lead the charge in the fourth. Correa opened the quarter with the game-tying 3-ball before Sam Shaak hit a corner triple of her own to put the Lions back in front with 8:18 left to play. After LBC cut the deficit to one, Coleman hit another timely 3-pointer to make it 58-54 with 3:55 remaining and Carpenter followed it up by converting an old-fashioned 3-point play to stretch the lead to five with 1:55 left.

Penn State Harrisburg held the Chargers to one field goal in the final minute and Carpenter put a bow on the win with five points in the final 48 seconds.

The home team opened the game with a tenacious full-court press that LBC struggled to break, leading to an early 15-4 advantage for the Lions. The Chargers closed the first quarter with a 9-4 run pull to within six entering the second period; a lead that Penn State Harrisburg held heading into the break.
