Women's Basketball Comes From Behind In Win Over Cougars

DALLAS, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's basketball team came from behind in a 55-45 victory over non-conference opponent Misericordia on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 16.

Newcomer Mikayla Coleman had a team-high 16 points, while Jordan Carpenter posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Sam Shaak tallied nine points and five boards and Ali Lister grabbed eight rebounds and added seven points and four steals.

The Lions (2-0) had an impressive second quarter against the Cougars (1-3) as the away team posted 23 points in the frame after Misericordia held Penn State Harrisburg to just six points in the opening quarter. A 13-point run by the visitors, which was sparked by an old-fashioned 3-point play from Lister and concluded with a Carpenter layup, gave the Lions all the momentum going into halftime up 29-25.

The two squads were equally matched throughout the second half but it was the 3-ball that made the difference in the third for Penn State Harrisburg. Shaak connected on back-to-back triples and Coleman added one of her own to stretch the lead during the period. The final frame was a low-scoring affair but the visitors relied heavily on Carpenter, as she tallied six of the team's eight fourth-quarter points.

NOTABLES
- Carpenter recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds and added three assists.
- Coleman had a career-high 16 points, going 3-of-8 from 3-point range.
- Shaak shot 50 percent from beyond the arc in route to nine points and five boards.
- Lister finished with eight rebounds, seven points, and three assists.
