Men's Soccer Blanks St. Elizabeth In Defensive Battle

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - In a defensive struggle with limited scoring opportunities, Penn State Harrisburg's men's soccer team converted the game's lone goal in a 1-0 shutout victory over United East foe St. Elizabeth on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 12.

The Lions (11-3-1, 4-0 United East) handed the Eagles (7-5, 4-1 United East) their first conference loss of the season in a contest that included just five shots on goal - all of which came from Penn State Harrisburg.

After a scoreless first half, the visitors finally broke through midway through the second when Tai Bhalla put his attempt past St. Elizabeth goalkeeper Andrew Gonzalez with 25:57 left to play. Kobe Harris assisted on the game-winning marker.

From there, the home team got off three shots but none found the hands or body of Penn State Harrisburg goalkeeper Tyler Shearin, let alone the back of the net. The Lions backs and midfielders clamped down to secure the team's second clean sheet in as many outings.

NOTABLES

- The shutout victory was Penn State Harrisburg's ninth this season.

- The Lions have allowed just one goal in their last eight games.

- Bhalla's marker was his fourth of the fall.
