Box Score MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team secured a convincing 11-0 victory over United East Conference opponent Penn State Brandywine on Tuesday night, Oct. 8.
Penn State Harrisburg (5-4-3, 3-0 United East) was immediately on the offensive and contained possession throughout the contest. Penn State Brandywine (1-8-1, 0-3 United East) relied heavily on goalkeeper Taylor Mims, as she tallied 11 saves on 22 total shots on goal.
Just seven minutes into the match, Serenity Hill rallied the ball off of a Penn State Brandywine goal kick and tapped it to Julia Hughes who strategically placed the shot in the bottom right corner to put Penn State Harrisburg up 1-0 early. Nearly five minutes later, Ciera Frick sent a corner kick into the box which was up for grabs until Sarah Toche-Manley found Katie Brown and Brown rocketed the ball past Mims in goal.
Hughes recorded her second marker on the night off a solo breakaway in the 14th minute before Peyton Huber scored back-to-back goals and Diana Pon added two markers of her own for good measure to put the home team up 7-0 going into halftime.
In shortened action during the second half, Penn State Harrisburg's Pon and Huber scored their third goals of the night to each record hat tricks, while Sydney Armstrong and Siena Ondecko both added markers as well.
