Box Score BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball team stayed unbeaten in conference play by handling United East foe Bryn Athyn 3-0 on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 5. The Lions swept through the match by set scores of 25-12, 25-10, and 25-17.
Camryn Wettstone led the way offensively with a match-high 11 kills and Emily Miller added seven of her own. Mackenzy Miller recorded a double-double with a match-best 18 assists and 16 digs, while Emmaline Stevens tallied three service aces.
In the opening set, Penn State Harrisburg (11-5, 2-0 United East) turned an 8-6 advantage into a 20-9 lead behind a 12-3 run that began with an Anna Stanoyevich block and included kills from Tesia Oliva, Brianna Ondishin Ribon, Wettstone and E. Miller. The visiting Lions closed things out during a Brooklynn Sheridan service run when Ondishin Ribon finished off a kill off a feed from Kate Bukowski.
Penn State Harrisburg raced out to a commanding 7-0 lead in the second set and never looked back, sparked by a Stevens service run that included a pair of aces. The visitors led by as many as 16 points in the set following a Claire Schuette kill off a pass from Oliva before another Schuette kill off a find from M. Miller finished off the set.
The visitors raced out to another 5-0 advantage in the third but Bryn Athyn (2-13, 0-3 United East) used a 4-0 run to cut the deficit to one. From there, Penn State Harrisburg stretched the lead to 10-5 on a Wettstone kill and eventually 20-10 thanks to another kill from Wettstone off a M. Miller feed. Though the hometown Lions drew to within 24-17 late in the set, an Alex Jurney kill off a Sheridan pass sealed the overall victory.
